Sorry, but I just could not get enough of flapping my wings around. They are amazing. Since spotting the piece on the S/S 2012 runway, I thought the couture sleeves would be kind of a disability. But they turned out to have the perfect reach however, enabling one to actually move. Leather, cotton and silk combined in an incredible silhouette. What else is there to ask for?

I have never noticed the rusty fence surrounding the electricity center until the other day. I wonder why, it is a beautiful though incredibly misplaced creation with the branches sort of climbing the walls, almost like a metaphor of the electricity.

Wearing pieces from various fall collections of Rick Owens.

Although my face expression says otherwise, it did feel good to dust off the cape for a ride. I haven’t in a while, not in a year I presume. But just like it did now, so will it next year and all the years that are to come. Almost like a pearl, encapsulated in a shell of calcium and carbon to occasionally expose oneself to the public.

Rick Owens cape and gloves from f/w 2011, shoes from f/w 2010, skirt and sweater from f/w 2012.

(Should one not be wearing s/s by now?)

These are the last images from New York, and from the last day there. I particularly remember that day because of the wind, I have never experienced anything like it. Before brunch we fought the wind and walked the blocks of Chelsea, it was crazy, I could even lean myself towards the wind and it would hold me up. We later went to have Sunday brunch at Hotel Americano, where we also stayed during the week. I would definitely not have wanted to stay anywhere else.

I am currently studying philosophy. And one philosopher who came to mind when looking at these photos is Thales, often regarded as the first philosopher. He believed water to be everything’s beginning. Everything is made out of water and will eventually return into being water. All other shapes are purely illusions. It is hard to grasp such a thought today, but given the fact that he tried to come up with a matter that was so neutral it could turn into everything, then it wasn’t such a bad idea after all.

In case you are wondering, I did not try to surf it that dress from Rick Owens S/S 2012, or at all as a matter of fact. I merely sat down on the empty beach to think and to watch the experienced surfers dancing on the violent waves. Which according to Thales possesses a soul, because the soul is the whole movement of the universe.

A few more pictures from my trip. It sometimes feels surreal when looking at those. Like it never happened. Perhaps because of the distance, because of experiencing something that doesn’t really suppose to belong to your life. Like I do with the travelling, although it has only been for a month, I feel a certain longing for playing a piece on the piano, Debussy or Chopin. I haven’t played for a while (I got rid of my piano), and my fingers are literally itching.

Structure

A continuation of the previous post one could say.

The short jacket I am wearing in the picture from Rick Owens S/S 2012 is truly a favorite of mine, and rare among all the black there is. It spends most of its time on the hanger because of its colour mainly, but the wait pays off in the end. It has got this perfectly structured shape with a trail in the back that gives a certain vulnerability to it.

Architecture of nature

I never knew daylight could be so violent. Nor trees for that matter. The form of nature is for me one of the greatest aesthetic experiences there is, and quite paradoxically so are the finest lines of architecture. But I guess it is all about the common nominator is the visual look of shape and texture. Great nature and great architecture, preferably combined, is for me the true match.

Like a snake in the desert, I dug myself into the sand for a bit to escape the world. Stayed in the sun long enough to be able to shed my skin but also to get the asymmetrical pattern back on my cheeks.

The snake skin piece I am wearing in the picture is from Rick Owens S/S 2008.
